Research interests and activities
My research interests include music cognition and perception, the phenomenology of performance, improvisation, and jazz studies with a strong neuroscience bent.
Presentations
I have presented at a number of local and international conferences, including ICLC-13 (Newcastle, UK, 2015), PASMAE (2014 and 2015), ISME (Tenerife 2004, Bologna 2008, and Thessaloniki 2012), JEN (New Orleans 2011), University of La Rioja (2012), and in 2013l attended the IASPM conference in Oviedo and Rhythm Changes II (Salford, April).
Visiting professorships
In 2014 I was visiting lecturer at UCT, in 2011 at universities in Finland and Mexico, and in 2012 helped to organise a major international conference at Unisa.
Editing
I was recently appointed to the editorial board of the journal of the International Society for Music Education: Practice. I edited Taylor and Francis/Unisa Press journal Muziki (11:2) in 2014.
